A fine and vibrant pair of Canton famille rose export porcelain plates dating from the Daoguang period (1821–1850).
Each plate is hand-painted in rich enamels with a central court scene depicting elegant ladies and attendants in an interior setting, framed by a border of peony blossoms, scrolling foliage, butterflies, and auspicious motifs.
The enamels retain their beautiful original colours, showing the refined craftsmanship of Canton workshops during the Qing dynasty export trade.
