Kangxi Period 'Amsterdam Bont' Bowl – Parrot & Floral Design | Marked with Museum Number

Product Description:
A rare and captivating Chinese porcelain bowl from the Kangxi period (1662–1722) , featuring the distinctive 'Amsterdam Bont' overglaze enamel decoration . This type of porcelain was originally exported as underglaze blue-and-white and later enamelled in Europe — in this case, likely in The Netherlands during the 18th century , resulting in the richly colored red, orange, and blue palette .

The bowl is beautifully hand-painted with exotic parrots perched among flowering branches , a motif symbolizing vitality and exotic beauty in both Eastern and Western traditions. The rim is subtly lobed, a typical feature of refined export wares. On the underside, the bowl bears a museum inventory number , suggesting provenance from a significant collection — possibly the Groninger Museum or a comparable institutional archive.

This bowl is a fine example of cross-cultural art , where Chinese porcelain meets Dutch decorative taste. An ideal piece for collectors of Kangxi porcelain , Amsterdam Bont , or early European-decorated Chinese export ware.
