Japanese Bronze Buddha – Edo Period (9.6 cm)
A serene and finely cast Japanese bronze Buddha from the Edo period (1603–1868). Measuring 9.6 cm in height, this piece captures the Buddha in deep meditation, hands folded in the dhyana mudra, symbolising inner peace and enlightenment.
The surface shows a rich, aged patina with traces of original gilding, reflecting both the artistry and spiritual devotion of its time. Such figures were often placed in personal altars or temple settings, serving as a focus for daily prayer and meditation.
Small yet powerful in presence, this Buddha embodies the refined craftsmanship of the Edo period, making it both a collectible work of art and a timeless symbol of tranquility.
