Exceptional Japanese Bronze Jardinière – Signed Yoshida, Kyoto | Meiji Period
A superb Japanese bronze jardinière, masterfully crafted and signed by the renowned Kyoto metalworker Yoshida. Measuring 28.5 cm wide, 20.5 cm high, and 18 cm deep, this piece exemplifies the extraordinary skill and artistry of late 19th-century Japanese metalwork during the Meiji period.
The jardinière features finely detailed relief decoration depicting a majestic eagle perched among flowering branches, framed by intricate foliate and geometric borders. The sides are adorned with stylised elephant head handles, adding both visual interest and cultural symbolism.
Yoshida’s work is highly sought after by collectors for its exceptional quality, refined detailing, and balanced design. This jardinière would have originally served as a decorative planter or display vessel in a refined Japanese interior, but today stands as a significant piece of Japanese decorative art.

• Depth: 18 cm
