Chinese Blanc de Chine Figure of a Lady with Deer – Late 19th / Early 20th Century

An elegant Blanc de Chine porcelain figure, depicting a serene lady with a deer, delicately modelled and glazed in a soft white tone typical of the Dehua kilns. The figure stands gracefully on a rocky base, wearing flowing robes and holding a flower basket over her shoulder – a symbol of beauty, fertility, and compassion in Chinese culture.

The deer at her side enhances the symbolism, representing longevity, harmony with nature and inner peace. Together, they form a timeless composition often associated with Daoist immortals or the goddess Magu, patron of youth and vitality.

This piece likely dates to the late Qing dynasty or early Republic period (c. 1880–1920) and is in very good condition with minor glaze wear to the extremities.

A refined work for lovers of Chinese sculpture, symbolism and porcelain craftsmanship.

Height: approx. 24.5 cm
Condition: Very good – no cracks, minor glaze wear
Provenance: Private collection, Europe
